who we are

Homeschooling Family

What began as a homeschool adventure to learn the relationship between the potter and the clay through ceramic arts, turned into an amazing passion. Our love of hand throwing pottery quickly grew. While our family was living in Laveen, Arizona, we had the honor of taking lessons from Master Potter Victor Contreras. Not only is he an extremely gifted and patient pottery teacher, but he is our brother in Christ as well.

Servant Minded

It is our hope that we can share our joy of pottery making with others and create functional dinneware that will be ejoyed around the dinner table for years to come. We also hope that each piece could be used as a conversation starter to share the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

When we are not homeschooling and making pottery, our famliy loves to visit nursing homes and sing and play instruments unto the Lord. God has placed in our heart a desire to serve and to pray. Our Clay

We start with a speckled buff clay body that fires into a beautiful southwestern brown and is filled with black speckles throughout. The fired clay makes a wonderful contrast against gloss and matte glazes. Each finished piece is carefully sanded and oiled for a smooth finish.

Our Pottery

We are local to the Newport News, Virginia area. We make and fire our pottery in our home. Each vessel is made with love and joy. Small imperfections left by the hand throwing process are all part of the beauty of creating pottery and a small reminder of just how unique each piece is.

The Potter's House

Jerimiah Chapter 18, verses 1-6 (KJV)

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,

2 Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.

3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.

4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
